The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Udo Ekpeyong yesterday received, Exceutives and members of Enugu State University of Science and Technology ESUT Alumni Association, Akwa Ibom State Chapter in his office, Uyo.
in his address, the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Alumni Assiciation, Engr. Ukeme Opulence Okpob congratulated the commissioner who is equally an alumnus on his appointment into the State cabinet which he described as well deserved.
He thanked the Commissioner for the good works he has been doing since he was appointed a commissioner by Governor Udom Emmanuel adding that Hon Udo Ekpeyong has so far distinguished himself in the course of discharging of his duties.
He said “on behalf of the Executives and members of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Alumni Association, I most sincerely congratulate you on your well deserved appointment into the State Executive Council for the second time having served during the Obong Attah administration. In less than one year of your appointment as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, you have brought your experience to bare in the ministry, today village heads, clan heads as well as Paramount Rulers do not have to wait for months or in most cases years, before receiving certificate of recognition, this of course is made possible because of your sound and superlative performance in office in just one year”.
The State Chairman also commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for finding some of them fit for appointments and promised to work wholeheartedly for his reelection in 2019. ” We also Commend our dear Governor, His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel for finding you and other of our members fit for appointments. For this love, we promise to work tirelessly for the reelection of our dear Gocernor in 2019 and continue in our unwavering support.
Engr Okpob used the opportunity to plead with the Commissioner to identify with the body and support her programmes. He also informed the Commissioner that ESUT Alumni in Akwa Ibom State have produced great men and women who are currently holding prominent positions in the state. He listed some of them to include, Dr. Val Attah, Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Prof. Linus Asuquo, Head of Department, Mechanical and Engineerring, University of Uyo, Dr. Church Akpan, Head of Department, Communication Arts, Akwa Ibom State University, Prof. Ike Ubadah, Current Chairman Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Engr. Billy Etuk, Board Chairman Peacock Paint, Etinan and a host of others.
In his response, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Udo Ekpeyong an Ex Student of the institution thanked the ex Students for the visit and promised to support their programmes and projects.
He urged the members to continue in their support to the government of Deacon Usom Emmanuel and to always remain law abiding citizens of the country at all times. He assured them that the present government in Akwa Ibom State will continue to do everything within her powers to make life better for the citizens.
The Commissioner also expressed joy at the high level attained by former students of the great school.
While delivering the vote of thanks, Comrade Ntiense Offong thanked the Commisisioner for opening his doors to receive the members of the body despite his busy schedule and workload. He described Hon Ekpeyong as a worthy son of Akwa Ibom State who has served as a role model to many Akwa Ibom sons and daughters. Comrade Ofong pleaded with the Commissioner to incorporate more members of the Association into the present administration so they can also contribute their quota to the development of Akwa Ibom State.
Comrade Braini Imossan, Akaniyene Etuk and many other ESUT Alumni joined the State Chairman and the Executive on the visit.
