…as 120 women receive revolving loan and 60 others receive grants.
The lives of Mkpat Enin women have taken a new turn for the better as the First Lady of Mkpat Enin, Mrs. Ima-Abasi Brown through Mboho Uforo Mkpat Enin (MUME), has created a financial platform to give out loans and grants to ameliorate suffering and improve on the well being of rural women.
According to Mrs Brown, MUME her brain child was birthed in line with the DAKKADA philosophy of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to ensure that women from Mkpat Enin extraction rise to the faith of greatness by being industrious and financially capable to contribute meaningfully in building their families and the society at large.
The Mkpat Enin First Lady expressed immense gratitude to Her Excellency, the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel for her huge contributions to MUME while also thanking numerous othe well meaning Akwa Ibomites for their financial support towards the actualization of its goals.
She stated further that the MUME initiative is geared towards empowering women across the 14 wards in Mkpat Enin with financial loans as startups for Small and Medium-Scale Enterprise (SMEs) and subsequently, give grants for expansion after exhibiting reasonable level of commitment and growth in their businesses.
Mrs Ima-Abasi Brown who doubles as the President of MUME, recently, empowered a total of 180 women in the fifth phase of the program, with 120 women benefitting from the revolving loan while 60 women received grants of 50,000naira each.
“Notably, this is the first phase of grant disbursement to passionate SMEs owned by Mkpat Enin women, as more people will be empowered in the next phases of the grant until a great number of rural women benefit from the financial scheme” she said.
The President of MUME thereafter, encouraged Mkpat Enin women to rise up, work hard, never give up and keep hope alive for God will bless the work of their hands.
Mrs Ima-Abasi Brown through MUME has changed the narratives of Mkpat Enin women to be independent, financially stable and contribute to the well-being of their homes. MUME was launched in November 2018 and is taking it a step at a time to positively empower more rural women in Mkpat Enin.
