Aspirants from Mkpat Enin LGA under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the recently concluded Local Government Chairmanship nominations have come together to endorse the outcome of the primaries which saw Mr. Ekanem Brown emerge as the flag bearer in the area.
Leading them was Hon. Uwana-Abasi Akpan. Hon. Akpan, a one time Councillor and Supervisor in the area surrendered his Unwana-Abasi Campaign Team to the success of the forth-coming campaigns.
Brown who spoke glowingly insisted that the interest and unity of Mkpat Enin is paramount to him and that he will ensure that everyone’s political interest is carried along. “I emerged not to create enemies but more friends and expand our horizon, so we should not allow anti-democracy elements have their way”, he added.
The event which took place at the residence of Mr. Ekanem Brown had Mr. Ini Silas another Chairmanship aspirant in attendance as well as all the councillorship candidates in attendance.
In a similar development, Mr. Evans Akpanobong has joined other aspirants in sending a message of felicitation to Mr. Ekanem Brown.
Mr. Akpanobong, an aspirant in the PDP primaries took to his Facebook page recently.
In his words;
“I wish to use this opportunity to congratulate my brother Mr. Ekanem Brown the holder of our party (PDP) nomination ticket for the December, 2nd Local Government Election. All of us were eminently qualified but all of us can’t be the chairman at the same time but can be something else some other time. The project was for Mkpat Enin and not for our selves. Please let us sheet our swords and join hands with Ekanem Brown to move Mkpat Enin forward. Congratulations my brother and God bless.”
Meanwhile, the PDP flag bearer in Mkpat Enin LGA in the December 02, 2017 Local Government election in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ekanem Brown has said the people’s yearning for a government that will best represent their interest, will decide the outcome of the election.
Speaking recently to some pressmen after a consultative meeting, Brown noted that there is already a consensus that he and the PDP best represent the interest and voice of Mkpat Enin LGA.
Outlining his plans and programmes, Brown said he was already in talks with some investors that will build about 50 lockup stores across major markets in the area, activate the abandoned shoe factory already built in the area to boost employment for the teeming youths and improve the revenue generation profile of Mkpat Enin, reposition Mkpat Enin as the food basket of the state being the most viable area in terms of agriculture produce.
He applauded the State Chief Executive, Governor UDOM Emmanuel for the vision to establish a cattle ranch in the state which will in turn provide raw materials for the shoe factory in the shortest possible time, noting that Mkpat Enin is ready for unprecedented development.
Brown’s acceptability has the highest grassroot reach across the 14 wards and 87 villages of Mkpat Enin with an assurance of getting everyone involved in the process of developing the area.
With the recent developments, stakeholders opine that Mkpat Enin is safe to move on with Mr. Ekanem Brown as council boss.
